It’s been a fair bit since I brought some photos out from our gaming sessions, so here are some for those interested in taking a more peek at our campaigning:
We had some fun with the dwarven forge terrain here making a cavern for the big battle around the Trollstone. The particularly big figures on the left were jotun-blooded trolls, while the area at the right had antimagic fields the party had to contend with along with the staff of power wielding troll wizard! It was a pretty intense fight.
Further along in the battle (much further) as more jotun-blooded trolls tangled with the party and they were trying to track down the troll wizard–who had become quite elusive with his unique bevy of spells.
Before the battle at Karkuune’s lair, we had to actually put it to table–and as it turns out, the scale of that cavern is actually quite big! Printing from a plotter, a few sections were pieced together in order to get it all into one cohesive map; afterward, we denoted some of the elevations and the like and proceeded to get down and dirty with an encounter that would end up taking us two entire sessions to complete.
As we near the final portion of the Slumbering Tsar Saga, Anselme’s player has been hard at work helping to prepare the maps that comprise the Citadel of Orcus. There are multiple regions to this massive dungeon with a -huge- scale to them; you can see him holding the reference sheet as we were reviewing which portions connected to which and began the careful process of labeling and organizing everything in advance for the climactic delve to come!
There is a shot of the reference sheet for preparing the maps for the Citadel; each floor is comprised of multiple very large map pieces which were printed on a plotter. Since the originals are also set with ten foot squares, a grid overlay for five foot squares had to be set up–a very time consuming process. The end result is exceptional though–we’ve got printed maps to scale for the entirety of the Citadel, the final mega-dungeon of the Slumbering Tsar Saga. In the next weeks to come, our group will delve inside and see about unearthing once and for all the schemes of Orcus!
